Project Details

Leuterio Thomas (LT) provided architectural and structural design services for a comprehensive building modernization project that included upgraded building systems, enhanced security, and improved performance. The scope included replacement of windows, HVAC, and lighting systems, as well as peer review of the contractor’s design.

project scope

During design analysis, LT identified the need to replace existing windows to meet updated thermal requirements. In response, and at the request of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, LT incorporated Level 3A blast-resistant, high-efficiency glazing. Each window required a dedicated structural frame to integrate the new systems with the existing building structure. Project submissions to both the National Capital Planning Commission and the Commission of Fine Arts were approved without delay.

our solutions

By reconfiguring perimeter shaft space during window replacement and upgrading wall insulation, LT was able to increase the building’s usable square footage by nearly 6,000 square feet. The completed upgrades significantly improved energy performance, security, and occupant comfort while extending the building’s long-term viability. To support stakeholder alignment, LT also provided high-quality renderings illustrating the transformed interior spaces and system integrations.
