The project included the renovation of the existing 10,000-square-foot research facility and an approximately 3,000-square-foot addition. The expanded facility was planned to accommodate a new vivarium and renovated laboratories for the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine and Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Specialized spaces included animal holding pens, procedure rooms, CT and X-ray imaging areas, laboratories, offices, and support areas for equipment and material handling. The existing building also required upgrades to meet current building, accessibility, and life-safety codes.
