LT’s design team developed the strategy and planning to completely replace all of the building systems while it remained occupied. To support that challenge LT designed a temporary mechanical system to be installed on the roof allowing new equipment in the penthouse. Submissions to NCPC and CFA passed through without a delay. During the design analysis, it was apparent that the windows needed to be replaced to meet thermal standards. Given that opportunity FDIC requested LT install new windows to Level 3 blast resistance. A separate structural frame was required for each window to attach it to the main building structure. In removing the window units, and capturing perimeter shaft space while at the same time upgrading the wall insulation, LT was able to increase the building square footage by nearly six thousand square feet. LT provided high quality renderings of the new spaces.
