The scope focused on window replacement along the north side of the facility, with additional replacement of all exterior doors and windows at the kitchen and administrative offices. Deteriorated row-lock brick window sills, with missing bricks and failed mortar joints, also required full replacement as part of the project.
New window systems were designed to address the performance and safety deficiencies of the aging envelope. Storefront aluminum doors with tempered glass were specified for the main and west entrances, while thermal-rated hollow metal doors with steel-stiffened cores were used throughout the remainder of the building. Deteriorated brick window sills were replaced with reinforced precast concrete sills, providing a durable and low-maintenance solution. Interior CMU walls were protected in place throughout construction, minimizing disruption to the facility while delivering a fully updated exterior envelope.
