Project Details

The original school featured steel casement windows, steel storefront systems, brick exterior walls, and precast sills beneath the window openings. After decades of service, the single-pane systems no longer met modern expectations for energy efficiency or occupant comfort.

The project addressed these aging components while preserving the school’s existing brick exterior and overall architectural character.

project scope

LT provided full design services for Prince George’s County Public Schools, including cost estimating, permitting, bidding, and construction administration.

The work included replacing the existing windows with insulated double-pane casement and storefront systems, installing new exterior storefront doors, and cleaning and repainting the precast sills below the windows.

our solutions

The new window systems were designed to fit within the existing building envelope, allowing the school to achieve meaningful improvements without extensive façade reconstruction. Insulated double-pane glazing reduced heat transfer and improved classroom comfort, while the updated casement and storefront design gave the building a cleaner, more contemporary appearance.

Restoring the precast sills improved the condition and visual consistency of the surrounding façade. Together, the new windows, doors, and sill finishes extended the life of the building envelope while improving its appearance, efficiency, and day-to-day performance.
