The work included removing the existing flooring, ceilings, demountable partitions, casework, lighting fixtures, classroom technology, and miscellaneous interior elements.
New insulated partitions were installed in the same general configuration as the original classroom layout. The project also included new VCT flooring matching PGCPS standards, replacement ceiling systems, updated lighting and mechanical equipment, new storage furniture, and smartboards in all six classrooms.
Retaining the existing classroom configuration allowed the renovation to make efficient use of the pod’s concrete masonry perimeter while replacing the demountable partitions with more permanent insulated walls. These new partitions improved separation between classrooms and supported a more comfortable learning environment.
Finishes and furnishings were coordinated with PGCPS standards and existing furniture designated to remain. By addressing the interiors, building systems, storage, and technology as one coordinated project, the renovation transformed six outdated classrooms into functional, contemporary spaces prepared for current teaching methods.
