Leuterio Thomas provided design services for the window and door replacement at Forest Heights Elementary School, a two-story facility in Oxon Hill, Maryland originally built in 1953 with additions in 1955 and 1969. The existing window systems had exceeded their service life, creating costly maintenance demands and safety concerns. The scope included replacement of all exterior windows and doors, with existing AC window units carefully removed and reinstalled with new mounting brackets. Storefront aluminum doors with tempered glass were specified for the main entrance and 1968 addition, while thermal-rated hollow metal doors with steel-stiffened cores were used for the remainder of the building’s exterior doors.
